AKIHABARAJune is when it starts to get busy. It starts off with a bang with the 2014 Electronics Entertainment Expo, better known as E3! One of the most wonderful times of the year where the gaming industry comes together to show off their big guns and set the pace for their year. I have the privilege of working in the game industry and I will be busting my ass off to prepare for E3 & beyond! I’ll need a little break though. Sometimes you NEED to take some time off and just enjoy life. That’s exactly what I’m doing after E3. Vacation destination? Tokyo and Singapore.

I’m no stranger to these faraway lands, quite the contrary. I’ve been there a few times each the past couple of years. I’ll be doing my usually GEEKMODE hunt of sneakers, arcade sticks, gaming goods and whatever else tickles my fancy. While in Singapore I’ll be representing Mad Catz and attending SEAM 2014 (South East Asia Majors), a major fighting game tournament for the surrounding countries. Stay tuned to my twitter & instagram for the latest pictures of food, cool stuff and whatever else I encounter.

DSC00524I was born in the ’80s. This was an era before the internet. It was a true age of discovery as far as gaming went. I was fortunate enough to live that life where I would come home from school, watch some DuckTales on TV & play some NES on the weekends (my parents didn’t let me play on school days). I really loved the classic action platformer game. There was Ghosts N’ Goblins, Mega Man, Chip & Dale’s Rescue Rangers and of course… DuckTales

video_image-204844This news has been out for awhile now but still, worth mentioning… There have been a number of Reebok inspired sneaker collaborations in the past, but this one…. THIS ONE takes the cake. Reebok’s Insta Pump Fury OG line has been pumping out retros & new colorways as of late, one notable one for geeks out there is this latest one featuring the beloved Gundam franchise.

While they are both the same shoe, the attention to detail for each design is astonishing. On the MS-06S Zaku (on the right) is based off the Commander type Zaku II that was piloted by Char Aznable, complete with outer space detail and everything. For more detailed pics, check out this link.

Based off the Gundam RX78-2 and Zaku MS-06S mobile suits, these sneakers were released in VERY limited numbers in South East Asia. No word on whether or not it will be releasing to the rest of the world, but you can bet that sneaker enthusiasts/gundam fans are paying attention.

Most places are sold out now, but you can still get it at kix-files for the Gundam version. Check it out!

Yesterday I announced that I (along with my crew, SDTEKKEN) will be running the 13th annual SDTEKKEN Gaming Room at Comic-Con International (San Diego Comic-Con) 2014! 13 years is a LONG time, but it is a Summer tradition that my local gaming group has grown to love and execute year after year.

SDTEKKEN has worked with many gaming and entertainment companies in the past to help make this collaborative effort a success year in and year out. We’ve worked with companies like Hori, Mad Catz, Gunnar, Games On, BAIT, Bandai Namco, ATLUS, Aksys Games, Iron Galaxy Studios, UFC, TapOut and tons more. This year will be no different! In fact, we’re opening it up to more gaming & entertainment companies to be involved in the biggest gaming room Comic-Con has to offer!

If you’re interested in taking part of the gaming action at Comic-Con this year and represent a gaming or entertainment company, please drop us a line at markman@sdtekken.com !

DSC00510I have a lot of things that I’m fond of. Arcade sticks, video games and sneakers. One of my geekmode passions is studying design and history of products and the culture that stems from them. To me, that’s the best stuff… History. It may or may not be relevant to the general public, but to those in the know… It is a wealth of information that is appreciated and timeless. That’s what I love.

It was my birthday yesterday. I’m old. Forgive me if my tastes do not align with yours, but it’s okay 😉 ! I decided to post my first quarter (first 4 months of 2014!) review of sneakers I’ve acquired or ‘pick-ups’ so far this year. Some of them crossover with my other passions, which you’ll notice right away in the video below!

It was hard to pick just ten martial arts movies that I love. I have seen hundreds of them and have fond memories of MANY. If I had to share my love for these movies… I’d share these… In no particular order…

Update: Please note that this list was made in 2012. There have been MANY amazing movies and scenes since then. Maybe I’ll make a new list 😛
