My favorite girls in manga and anime!

fave_manga_anime_girlsMy friend VampyBitMe challenged me to list/write about my favorite female manga & anime characters the other day. I thought long and hard about it and was surprised at how difficult it was for me to come up with a top ten. I couldn’t settle on just ten, actually I easily had 20-30 characters in mind, but I thought it was important to list the ones that really stuck out for me. In no specific order, check out my picks for best anime & manga gals! Click below for the full list…

1) Sailor Mercury / Ami Mizuno from Sailor Moon
2) Sheryl Nome from Macross Frontier
3) Lisa Lisa from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
4) Bulma from Dragon Ball
5) Boa Hancock from One Piece
6) C.C. from Code Geass
7) Ryuko Matoi from Kill La Kill
8) Teresa from Claymore
9) Miria from Claymore
10) Saeko from High School of the Dead
11) Ranma from Ranma 1/2
12) Matoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell
13) Linn Minmay from Macross / Robotech

You may notice that a lot of the characters I’ve listed don’t share a common trait. That’s the beauty of it, I just picked the characters I loved. I would often hover towards bad ass / smart characters, or ones that get shit done. I don’t like dead weight 😛

It was tough to decide on this small handful of wonderful female characters. This whole thought process was full of joy and memories, though. It allowed me to look back and think about all the amazing stories and experiences I’ve had the pleasure of reading/watching throughout the years. I encourage that you do the same for yourself! Sometimes making lists can remind you of all the good times you’ve had in life. 🙂
